CARD Center Art Classes
These 4-week classes are held on Tuesdays at the CARD Community Center at 545 Vallombrosa Ave. in Chico
Magical Crafts
Come make some magic! In this class, students will explore whimsical hands-on art projects such as designing wands, creating mystical potion decorations, and building fairy houses. We will work with different art materials ranging from paint and natural objects to clay. Ages 8-14.
Whimsical Sculpture
Learn how to work with air dry clay as you design and build uniquely magical creations! Students will learn how to create a wire armature for figures, how to incorporate recycled materials as a base for their work, and tips and tricks for working with this particular type of clay. Projects include making small creature figurines and fairy houses. Ages 13 and up.
Fantasy Illustration
Let your imagination run wild in this creative drawing class! Students will learn how to draw a variety of fantasy subjects ranging from characters and creatures to castles and landscapes. They will practice bringing life to their drawings using different coloring techniques with materials like colored pencils, pens, and watercolors. Ages 8-14.
Collage Art
In this class, you'll learn many ways to use paper and cut-out images to create unique works of art. Collage is an open-ended art form and students will be able to explore a variety of art styles with their collages, ranging from abstract to realistic to surreal. We will work with many kinds of paper materials to create collage landscapes, mosaic collages, and even miniature magnetic artworks!
Dungeons and dragons and Crafts
Come along for a fantastic journey! This combination gaming and art experience will take you on an adventure through dragon-haunted wilderness in search of a missing artifact. Along the way, you can engage with the story in a hands on way by crafting potions, items, maps, and more to help your characters in the game. Beginners are welcome, no previous art or D&D experience is required. Open to ages 11-17.
This game will play out in 4 two-hour sessions on Tuesday afternoons in May. Keep an eye out for weeklong immersive D&D camps coming Summer 2024!
